This is my literacy project. My students made a digital story to share their experience with others who would like to raise a pet in school or at home. It was fun and they reallly enjoyed it. I found that I had to work with a few students at a time when working with iMovie. They want to make more movies, so this project was a success and goals were met.  The educational purposes were oral communication and effective information sharing.

Web 2.0 Reflection

Technology in the Classroom by dawnsunn2008 on GoAnimate

Animation Software - Powered by GoAnimate.">

I tried a few tools to create this reflection.  Some, like Voki, were frustrating.  I found GoAnimate to be just right.  It was fun to do and easy to use; just the way I like my technology.  Overall I feel I have learned quite a bit in this class.  There are so many ways in which you can communicate and receive information.  I have been manipulating my blog outside of the course.  I even got the hang of Diigo!  Making the digital story and the Animoto, once I got over the initial kinks, were actually fun.  It was great to see the different ways in which my peers used the tools in their classroom as well.  I did not think I would get the hang of this but here I am!  My students are completing their iMovie for and they are so excited.  I just sit back, watch them work at it (they have my IPad), and help them edit when it is time.  Enjoy watching my GoAnimate reflection.  Try it with your students!

This is the link to my Diigo account.  I use Digo for websites of interests and for student research and information.  It was challenging to use and I was impatient.  I find Google Reader to be more beneficial in terms of finding information.  This is a good tool to  organize your information, however.

Digital Story (My State History)

My digital story was on the CT. State Charter. As part of our state history unit, my 4th grade students are learning about historical documents from our state. I thought this was a great way to give them a lesson on Connecticut's transition from British involvement to the governing of their own colony. MovieMaker and PhotoStory were used to create this digital story. Pictures were used for education purposes through Google images and Flickr. The lesson is accordance with the CCSS:
  • .ELA-Literacy. RI.4.3 Explain events, procedures, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text, including what happened and why, based on specific information in the text.
