Digital Story (My State History)

My digital story was on the CT. State Charter. As part of our state history unit, my 4th grade students are learning about historical documents from our state. I thought this was a great way to give them a lesson on Connecticut's transition from British involvement to the governing of their own colony. MovieMaker and PhotoStory were used to create this digital story. Pictures were used for education purposes through Google images and Flickr. The lesson is accordance with the CCSS:
  • .ELA-Literacy. RI.4.3 Explain events, procedures, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text, including what happened and why, based on specific information in the text.

  1. That was great Stacey!! I liked how your music wasn't too fast or slow and it didn't overpower the narrator. You did a nice job choosing all those images and having the music change at the suspenseful part when the charter was missing. You made it seem easy to match the words and music to the images. I even learned a little about the state's history!

  2. Wow! I love the effects of the pictures and how they zoom in. I also love that you do so much with Connecticut because our Connecticut unit is coming up soon and you have given me a lot of information and resources.

  3. This is a great story! I think the music went really well with the story and the narration was very clear. I'm sure your students loved participating in this story and learned a lot about Connecticut! This video may be helpful to show my students during our upcoming social studies unit about Connecticut. :)
